New ENVI-met V 5 is available today
We are thrilled to announce our new major release of ENVI-met V 5 with a lot of new developments and improvements. Version 5 represents a fundamental renewal of ENVI-met. It offers a redesigned User Interface and full control over any microclimate simulation with the new ENVI-guide, as well as intelligent ray tracing algorithms with IVS and the simulation of highly realistic trees and 3D plants. It also integrates data processing with Python scripts that enables the visualization of ENVI-met model outputs. ENVI-met users can obtain the new version from our website.
New User Interface
Complex projects need visually clear user interfaces in which you can find your way around quickly and intuitively. That is why we have revised the control elements, adopting a consistent graphical approach, without compromising the user experience in operation. In addition, the use of clearer and logical symbols speeds up the learning process for beginners. We have also taken a major step forward with the long-anticipated update for ENVI-met Monde. In the new version, this module has undergone a fundamental revision and modernisation of its user interface and now offers more comprehensible, meaningful operating elements.
New ENVI-guide
With its new User Interface, you can now check and adjust all parameters and options of the simulation in one place. Tooltips and hints provide guidance on how to best setup your simulation, while still enabling advanced users to precisely define the environmental impact in the Expert Section. Further, Forcing Generators (Simple and Full) have been implemented into the new ENVI-guide.
Python Integration
For the first time Python is integrated into the ENVI-met system. Python scripts for data analysis and visualization with special requirements can be triggered directly in Leonardo. This is done via the DataStudio, which not only allows integrated data processing with Python scripts, but also provides some sample scripts for universal application areas. To facilitate the management of datasets, the DataStudio has a number of useful utilities that also allow you to control the application directly.
New vegetation model
Realistic modelling of trees is essential for an accurate simulation of the environmental influences of vegetation in urban areas. In previous versions, ENVI-met supported Simple Plants like Grass and generic 3D plants representing different tree shapes. With the next generation of MiPSS (Microscale Plant Simulation System) it is possible to model trees with a level of detail down to the size of a branch and leaves in high-resolution. It is also possible to define specific species and model their properties in terms of wind protection, sun shielding or transpiration. The new tree model is the foundation of the upcoming Tree Pass in 2022, which will allow a detailed simulation of tree mechanics and wind risks.
Indexed View Sphere (IVS)
ENVI-met V 5 takes a giant step forward in simulating highly complex interactions between different surfaces, materials and structures, making it more realistically than before. The Indexed View Sphere (IVS) uses intelligent ray tracing algorithms to scan the environment and visualize which part of a structure is in radiation exchange with surrounding structures. This makes it possible to simulate effects, such as warmer south-facing facades that radiate onto the surroundings or partially reflected sunlight, more accurately and faster than before.
